Probate

When the loved one passes away and leaves behind assets of £5,000 or more, you will have to deal with probate. Bereavement is distressing enough without having to deal with the confusion and stress of this difficult procedure.

If a will has been left, a grant of probate is required. This is a legal document that allows the executor of the will to be personally responsible for dealing with and distributing the assets of the deceased as wished in the will.

If a will has not been left, you can apply to the probate registry to allow you to deal with the estate. This is where the expert team at Kirkham Legal will help you apply for a grant of representation, or letters of administration, which when approved will allow you to deal with the assets of the deceased.

There is sometimes need for a probate valuation to determine the value of a property before a grant of registration is given.

Many family members find the probate procedure difficult at such an emotional time, or often don’t have time to deal with the process. Kirkham Legal has a specialist team ready to handle all the administration and processes quickly and comfortably.
