On the 1st April 2009, conveyancers Bob Bouch and Kathryn Doogue opened their conveyancing firm Kirkham Conveyancing in Royton, Oldham. At that stage the firm comprised just the two conveyancers and one assistant, and traded from one shop fronted premises.
“Some people questioned the wisdom of Bob and I leaving our previous firm and starting our own business, but we both knew that there was a place in the legal market for a specialist company dealing only in property matters, and that this was a risk worth taking,” says Director, Kathryn.
Ten years on the firm has changed and grown considerably. It has revamped its image and re-branded to “Kirkham Legal”. Bob Bouch has retired as a Director and taken on a consultancy and ambassadorial role, to be replaced by Edwina Ashworth, another specialist conveyancer, who joins Kathryn at the helm of the Company. Staff now number 15, including 6 fee earners and 7 case assistants, and the premises have now expanded to three shop fronts. In addition, 4 years ago the firm also started undertaking Private Client work (such as Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney) which is now handled by the experienced solicitor, Daniel Prince.
“We have been able to expand because of the great service that we provide to our clients, who often then become repeat clients and refer us to their friends and family. Our client base is growing all the time, and I calculate that we have had well over 10,000 clients in the last decade. Our success is based on hard work, our loyal and skilled staff, great working relationships with other professionals, our clients and our commitment to using the most efficient and up to date case management systems,” adds Kathryn. “Our success has also meant that we have been able to attract quality people to join the team on our journey”.
Kathryn and Edwina are going to celebrate this anniversary by laying on a private party for all involved in the Company. Here’s to the next 10 years!
